Teach your children well

If you didn't know, I live across the river from Steubenville, Ohio.

*crickets*

Yep. If you thought everything regarding the rape trial was disgusting from where you are, imagine how I feel. When it's not local, some of the ugliness is muted.  It's horrible, this whole situation. But being connected to the town, shopping there, eating there, having friends there - it is more in-your-face. And it's not just the ugliness of social media that pisses me off, it the local community as well. One lady that I craft with is obsessed about trying to figure out who this girl is. Who her parents are, etc. et al. It's gruesome the way some people relish the news. The way they discuss who it could be along with all of the gory detail that they have gleamed from others. The delight in their eyes when they know something you don't and inform whether you want to know or not.

But if it has taught me one thing, it is this. I will be a parent. I will be involved. And I will pray that I will raise my son with knowledge, with courtesy, with respect, knowing right from wrong and most of all, with the courage to stand up for himself, and stand up for others when they cannot.

It's been a busy year

And it's only going to get busier.

This is going to be short and quick, seeing as it's naptime and I have a TON of things to do!

Two weeks ago, we celebrated the little one's first birthday.  And last week was his one year doctor appointment, with shots.  Yuck.

My beautiful baby boy

I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

He's grown 10 inches and gained 10 lbs since he was born. He has eight teeth and is drooling like a rabid dog.  He's not only walking, he's practically running around the house. He's saying a few words and knows how to make the sign for "more".  I love his laugh. His smile is infectious.  And I love him with all of my heart.
